At The Rooster, we don’t have guestrooms or suites. You stay in your own home.
Local architects VOIS took inspiration from the island’s humble katikies (farmer’s cottages), and dry-stone walls in designing our deliberately subtle residences. Respect for the local heritage and environment is everywhere apparent. Built from tawny local stone and pressed plaster the colour of sand, our low-rise houses open up to the elements. Apertures and doorways frame glimpses of swaying grasses, the ever-changing sea, and painterly sunsets that are never the same twice.
Whether close to the beach or higher up the hillside, every house has generous indoor and outdoor living areas, a perfectly private pool, and an invigorating outdoor shower. Understated interiors have a more nomadic aesthetic — Balinese daybeds, velvet Ikat cushions, driftwood four posters, linen kimonos, and hand-blown glassware. A harmonious blend of textures and tones that feels uncontrived and puts you instantly at ease.
