DAYS IN THE ROOSTER

Guest Experiences

Hidden in thirty acres of rambling gardens, windswept wilderness, and sand dunes, The Rooster is an invitation to surrender to nature and the elemental way of Greek island life.

Set your intention for the day with a sunrise swim on the naked shores of Livadia beach. Follow your own path on an off-road adventure in our Wrangler Jeep or a gentle hike to the abandoned mines and hidden wetlands of Antiparos. Jump aboard our stylish Riva, The Chick, and discover castaway isles and seaside temples. Drink in the sunset with a wine hamper from a driftwood tipi on the shoreline. Or relish the company of kindred spirits at a communal Sunday dinner at The Farm, our organic market garden and open-air kitchen.

It’s all part of the magic of days and nights in The Rooster.

THE ROOSTER BOUTIQUE

Personally curated by The Rooster’s founder, Athanasia Comninos, our boutique is a trove of sustainable brands and capsule collections created exclusively for us by niche Greek and international designers (many of whom are close friends and Rooster lovers). You’ll find Celia Dragouni’s romantic dresses upcycled from embroidered tablecloths, Evi Grintela’s organic cotton shirtdresses, Rianna + Nina’s one-of-a-kind couture kimonos, handwoven Greek fabrics by Elina Lebessi, Queen Calliope’s designs and rare finds from India and beyond, and flattering Maan swimwear designed on Antiparos. Our wares are always changing, depending on what Athanasia discovers on their travels — fine jewellery from Jaipur’s Gem Palace, ikat kaftans from Uzbekistan, Marané linen menswear from Uruguay, colourful twin sets from Muzungu Sisters, ethically made by artisans around the world. We are especially proud of our exclusive collaboration with For Restless Sleepers, FRS X ROOSTER. Francesca Rufffini’s silk pyjamas, with prints inspired by the landscapes of Antiparos, encapsulate effortless island style. Athanasia has a personal connection with every maker and designer featured in our boutique, including The Rooster’s own hand-made candles. Choose from our signature scent or the aroma of fresh cut roses.

BARBEQUE AT HOME

At The Rooster, we don’t have rooms: all our guests stay in their own beautifully appointed Home. So, you only have to venture out when the mood strikes. As well as a tempting room service menu, private dining is a real occasion. An hour before you would like to eat, our discreet crew will conjure up an enchanting atmosphere with elegant table settings, candles everywhere, and a perfectly prepped outdoor kitchen. A bespoke selection of seafood, prime cuts, and seasonal vegetables are barbequed on a portable Monolith by your personal chef. Unobtrusive table service is part of this starlit package.

ON THE FARM

FARM COOKOUT

Join our chefs for a private cooking demonstration and outdoor lunch at The Farm, a peaceful sanctuary where we grow many of our organic ingredients. Harvest seasonal salads and herbs from our bostani (kitchen garden) and watch in wonder as a feast of summery salads, super- fresh seafood, or tender meats materialise from the wood-fired oven and outdoor grill. Our chef will provide the recipes if you want to try recreating this magical scene at home. Duration: 2-3 hours

LUNCH WITH DESPINA

Self-taught baker and food storyteller Despina Bitzaraki makes divine sourdough loaves for The Rooster every day. Four times a week, she also cooks a heartfelt lunch for 2-4 guests. Slow-baked chickpeas, hand-rolled pies, stuffed tomatoes, fresh eggs from our chicken coop sauteed with wild greens, goat’s milk crème caramel – Despina’s dishes celebrate the wholesome simplicity of her Cretan roots. Lunch with Despina is like sharing a meal with your own Greek family. Duration: 2 hours

SUNDAY SUPPERS

Sundays are a time for family and friends, old and new. Gather around our communal table at The Farm for a convivial Sunday supper, served family style for up to 20 guests. Enjoy lively conversations and meaningful connections over soulful food that is deeply connected to the surrounding landscape. A meal to remember, soundtracked to the soothing chime of goat bells and illuminated by a canopy of stars.

FAMILY STYLE FARM DINNER

Take over The Farm’s outdoor kitchen and fragrant garden for an exclusive alfresco feast. Choose a meat, seafood, or plant-based tasting menu that all celebrate the pleasure of eating well in good company. An array of flavourful dishes to share might feature roast cauliflower and spiced bulgur with a hazelnut-lemon vinaigrette, griddled peas and peaches in a thyme- honey glaze, squid skewers doused in a citrus marinade, grilled octopus with star anise, a saddle of tender lamb chops or a perfectly pink Tomahawk. Pair with our sommelier’s favourite Greek wines to truly elevate the evening.

WINE TASTING

Allow our sommelier to initiate you into the secrets of the Greek vineyard — a sensory journey across sun-dappled shores, volcanic slopes, and rocky highlands. Discover the diversity and variety of the Greek terroir that is winning over wine connoisseurs — from Santorini’s flinty Assyrtyiko to headstrong Xinomavro from Naoussa and sparkling rosé from Amyntaio. Paired with artisan cheeses, olives, and a careful selection of house-made delicacies, our wine tastings can be arranged between 1pm-6pm daily. Duration: 90 minutes

ADVENTURES AT SEA

THE CHICK

The Chick is the sexiest new addition to The Rooster family: a sleek, Rivamare 38 motor yacht that’s primed for pleasure cruising. Depending on your whims – and the weather gods – you might take her for a round-the-island spin, a jaunt around the Cyclades, or for a high-octane shopping trip or night out on Paros. Anything goes, and our charming skipper is always up for adventure. Duration: Half or full day

FISHING

Captain George “Sargos” Marianos is a legendary figure on Antiparos – a piratical rascal who knows every sea cave and hidden cove. An experienced fisherman, Captain Sargos has spent his life trawling the waters around Antiparos on his traditional wooden kaiki. Now we have persuaded him to take some of our guests along for the ride – an exclusive The Rooster experience. Duration: 2 hours

SURFING

Livadia beach catches the meltemi, the notorious, north-westerly wind characteristic of the Cyclades. Not always ideal for sunbathing, it creates the perfect line-up for surfing. Our experienced surf instructors will help you pick the right board and ensure you stay upright, whether you’re an absolute beginner or a seasoned pro.

WATERSPORTS

Most of the beaches on Antiparos are blissfully tranquil, with nothing but tamarisk trees for shade and the sound of the waves kissing the shore. But if you’re craving an adrenaline hit, we can arrange water skiing and wake surfing on the second Psaraliki beach, a shallow, sandy bay that’s ideal for younger learners and high-energy teens. You could also rent a kayak and strike out for your own deserted cove.

KITESURFING, WINDSURFING & WINGFOIL

There’s a serious surf scene at Pounta beach: the narrow strait that separates Antiparos from Paros creates the ideal conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing, with steady side-shore wind and a sandy seabed. We’ll set you up with the best instructors and the right equipment, whatever your level. As well as champion surfers, Pounda attracts a tousled party crowd to its beach bars — the antithesis of our own laidback, pristine Livadia bay.

SCUBA DIVING & SNORKELLING

Immerse yourself in the cool blue waters of the Aegean and discover a new world of underwater meadows, canyons, and caves. Free dive around a shipwreck or a sunken WWII airplane, where you might come across a shy octopus or an ancient amphora. Our private dive charters cater to all levels. If snorkelling is more your speed, we’ll direct you to rocky coves where the marine life is like an open-water aquarium.

GROUNDED IN THE LAND

JEEP SAFARI

Hop into our Wrangler Jeep and our fearless driver will take you places most visitors to Antiparos never see. From a cliff-backed lagoon barely big enough for a pair of lovers, to a hilltop chapel with 360-views of fifteen islands in the Cyclades archipelago, our Jeep safari is an off-the-beaten-track adventure to the most inaccessible beaches and sensational vantage points. Along the way, you’ll find traces of the island’s mines, wine presses and threshing floors, volcanic rock formations like vast natural sculptures, and a vertical cave 85 metres deep, where the oldest stalagmites date back 45 million years. Much of the island is a wild nature reserve, but there are hidden cultural treasures too. We wind down the day at a traditional house within the walled Venetian castle, with drinks and meze prepared by the local women’s association. Duration: approximately 2 hours

HIKING

For an island of only 38 square kilometres, Antiparos holds an extraordinary wealth of natural history and cultural heritage. The undulating hills and scalloped coastline are fertile ground for gentle hikes. There are 13 signposted trails that follow donkey tracks, dirt roads, and footpaths to bird-filled wetlands, olive groves and vineyards, abandoned quarries and iron mines. Pause for a picnic under a one-hundred-year-old juniper tree or cool off with a swim en route. Explore at your own pace using the trail maps of Antiparos Hiking Routes. Alternatively, we can arrange a private walking guide, or a mountain bike rental if you want a more physical challenge.

OLIVE OIL TASTING

Among the farmers and beekeepers who work the sun-kissed plain of Kambos is one of our favourite local secrets: Agrilia olive grove, whose 2500 gnarly trees produce the purest organic oil. At this family-run farm, the resilient Koroneiki olives are milled and cold-pressed within 4- 6 hous of being picked – you too can join in the harvest if you visit in October. Under the expert guidance of these passionate producers, you will taste a variety of olive oils paired with ingredients that complement their flavour profile, learn to distinguish between inferior and superior grade olive oil, and discover the antioxidant health benefits of high polyphenol olive oil. A multi-sensory immersion into Greece’s health-giving olive heritage. Duration: 2.5 hours.

PLAY WITH CLAY

Ceramicist Elena Louloudaki has a knack for sharing the transformative power of clay. On a two-hour workshop at The Farm, get to grips with simple techniques to make your own ceramic keepsake, inspired by the pottery traditions of the Cyclades that go back centuries. A grounding, meditative activity that brings you into contact with the elements of earth, water, wind, and fire, as well as your own innate creativity. Duration: 2 hours

PRIVATE PAROS TOUR

Bigger and busier than our little Antiparos, Paros is one of the most glamorous and lively Cycladic islands. Beyond the golden surfer beaches, waterfront bars and sophisticated dining scene, the island is speckled with sleepy whitewashed villages and chapels, scenic castles, monasteries, and fishing harbours. Discover the many different sides of Paros on a private tour with your own driver, so you can see and do as much or as little as you like. Duration: 4 hours

HORSE RIDING

Catch the sunrise or sunset on horseback, go swimming with horses, or take a donkey ride through a valley of butterflies. Slow down and immerse yourself in the lesser-known landscapes of Paros from a different viewpoint. No experience in the saddle required.
