Wholesome food that celebrates the seasonal, local, and sustainable is essential to life at The Rooster.

Our chef, Simos Triantafyllou, conjures magic from whatever the Greek islands provide — the fishermen’s daily catch, free-range lamb and goat, artisan cheeses, and plentiful salads, herbs, and organic eggs fresh from Our Farm. Elevated by inspiration and ingredients from around the Mediterranean, Simos creates uplifting dishes that taste of carefree summers.

Our two restaurants at The Rooster are among the most sought-after tables in the Cyclades. But only our guests have access to farm-to-fork feasts, wood-fired lunches, relaxed cooking classes, and communal Sunday Suppers on The Farm. The Restaurant

 

Breakfast is served around the lemon tree on our sheltered porch, or with a side of sea views in our sunny dining room.

Sourdough breads and pastries, still warm from the oven, come with a selection of nut butters, honeys, and home-made preserves. Choose from breakfast bowls — Greek yoghurt with pistachio granola, vegan overnight oats, or lavender-scented rice pudding — just laid eggs any-which-way, piled-high tostadas, or irresistible French toast with tsoureki and cardamom cream.

An easy-going, anytime menu of colourful salads, shareable skewers, flatbreads, and seafood can be enjoyed at the restaurant or in poolside privacy on your terrace. For a real treat, invite one of our chefs over to rustle up a bespoke barbeque — perhaps grilled zucchini with xynomyzithra cheese and toasted almonds, barbecued octopus with roasted red peppers, or spit-roast rooster in a citrus glaze.

The Bar

Perfectly positioned for sunset, our open-air bar has different vistas from every hilltop perch, cushioned ledge, and wooden barstool.

There are nooks for romantic toasts with a bottle of fizz, and capacious daybeds for late-night stargazing.

Savour the moment with our botanical mocktails, cleansing juices, or classic cocktails (our bartender might even reveal our spicy Bloody Mary blend). Or dip into our selection of signature drinks, such as Despotiko, a heady mix of whisky, ouzo, apricot, black pepper, and a dash of white vinegar from Paros. A little indulgence goes a long way.

The Secret Garden

Our Secret Garden sems to emerge from the raw landscape, with tables set under a twinkling canopy of constellations.

Soft lighting, low music, and the soothing murmur of raised glasses and deep conversation set the scene for a seasonal menu that tastes both true to place and excitingly of the moment.

Piri-piri squid with samphire tartare and burnt lemon, bucatini with slow-braised goat ragout, myzithra cheese and chard, savoy cabbage stuffed with prawns and bulgar, fish fricassée in a parsley, lemon and Assyrtiko wine sauce… These are just some of the exceptional dishes presented to you by our well-versed wait staff, who can also suggest the perfect wine pairing.

THE TIPIS

Camouflaged in the dunes overlooking Livadia bay, our driftwood tipis are designed for snuggling up with smoothies or sundowners.

Order an iced tea, a chilled bottle of sparkling Greek wine, or a beautifully presented picnic basket from the bamboo beach shack exclusively for our guests. Everything tastes better with the salty breeze in your hair and sand between your toes.

Occasional performances and intimate events are also staged in this seaside setting — our very own Cycladic oasis.
